When creating rubric for the performance assessments needed to address the deep critical thinking required by the Common Core I like to ask myself the following questions to make sure the rubric is objective:
Content - Does it include all the important elements of the assessment?
Clarity - Is it understandable? Is there anything that could be difficult to interpret.
Practical - Is it easy to use by both student and teacher?
Fair - Is it fair and reliable to use from student to student?
